What is PRP?

PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, is a concentrated solution of platelets derived from a patient's own blood. It contains growth factors and cytokines that stimulate tissue repair and regeneration.

How Does PRP Work as a Biostimulator?

A biostimulator is a substance that triggers the body's natural healing processes. In the case of PRP, the growth factors and cytokines released by the platelets:

  • Promote collagen and elastin production: These proteins are essential for skin elasticity and structure.
  • Stimulate new blood vessel growth: Increased blood flow improves tissue health and vitality.
  • Reduce inflammation: This can help alleviate skin conditions and promote healing.

Benefits of PRP for Undereyes:

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles: PRP can help improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of under-eye wrinkles.
  • Brightens under-eye circles: By increasing blood flow, PRP can help reduce the appearance of dark circles.
  • Hydrates the skin: PRP can stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid, a natural skin hydrator.

Benefits of PRP for Hair/Scalp:

  • Promotes hair growth: PRP can stimulate hair follicles and promote new hair growth.
  • Thickens hair: By strengthening existing hair follicles, PRP can help increase hair density.
  • Treats hair loss: This treatment is a great choice whether you’re losing your hair due to genetics or other underlying factors. In the case of hair loss due to chronic illness, we will need to discuss the procedure and determine whether PRP is right for you before treatment. Since this treatment relies on your plasma, it poses no risk of rejection.

How PRP Treatments Are Performed:

  1. Blood Draw: A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient.
  2. Platelet Isolation: The blood is centrifuged to separate the platelets from the other blood cells.
  3. Injection: The concentrated PRP is injected into the target area (e.g., undereyes or scalp).

Note: The number of treatment sessions required may vary depending on the individual and the specific condition being treated. It's essential to consult with one of our providers to determine if PRP is suitable for you and to discuss the expected results.
